About RECYT

RECYT (Spanish Repository forScience and Technology) is a set of services for the Spanish Scientific community with the aim of helping Spanish scientific journals to be more professional and international.

There is a public zone in RECYT (Library) where quality-proved Spanish Scientific Journals can be hosted and there is a private zone (User Home) that provides an editing tool to help publishing (including peer review, etc.)

Each journal decides how to use RECYT. In that way, the editing tool can be used with no need of publishing the issues in the platform but in the journal home. Besides, it is possible to publish the journal in the platform without using the editing service. In the same way, both services can be used. The editing tool decreases time and energy usually employed in the publishing of a journal. Besides, it improves journals´ quality in different ways: publishing policies become more transparent, indexation of articles improve, etc.

RECyT is based on the open source solution Open Journal Systems (OJS), customized for the needs of RECYT. OJS is an initiative developed by Public Knowledge Project.

Access to the editing tool, as well as the journal hosting in RECYT requires a prior evaluation of the quality of those candidate journals, what guarantees reliability of information.

In RECYT, the guide “La edición de revistas científicas: directrices, criterios y modelos de evaluación” by Emilio Delgado, Rafael Ruiz-Pérez and Evaristo Jiménez-Contreras can be found. The aim of this book is to serve as a good practice guide for scientific journal editing.

In order to help the use of RECyT and the reading and comprehension of the guide, related online tutorials are hosted.
